Scardino LLP

About Us

In 2018, Gretchen and Daniel Scardino founded Scardino LLP to serve their diverse legal practices.  After managing Reed & Scardino LLP, a successful IP litigation boutique with over fifty lawyers and staff at its height, Daniel was determined to spend more of his time solving his clients’ legal issues than administering the day-to-day operations of a large law office.  After practicing law for two decades, Daniel has broad and deep experience in multiple practice areas but specializes in federal court litigation and corporate governance and transactions.  Gretchen, who maintains an active commercial litigation and appellate law practice, wanted to focus more of her time on capital habeas corpus litigation in federal and state courts.  Based in Austin, Texas but serving clients throughout the country, Scardino LLP offers a winning combination of trial experience, technical ability, and business acumen, and provides clients thorough legal guidance in the boardroom and the courtroom.  Our streamlined, results-oriented approach to the practice of law means your matter will be handled by a fully-engaged, experienced partner working in tandem with our talented staff.

Public Interest

In a 1905 speech, Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, then a prominent Boston lawyer, lamented that “able lawyers have, to a large extent, allowed themselves to become adjuncts of great corporations and have neglected the obligation to use their powers for the protection of the people.” We strive to follow the example of Justice Brandeis who, before becoming a Supreme Court justice, incorporated advocacy for the issues of the general public into his legal practice. Our public interest work is focused on First Amendment litigation and the post-conviction representation of death-sentenced prisoners in federal habeas corpus proceedings.
