Public Interest

In a 1905 speech, Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, then a prominent Boston lawyer, lamented that “able lawyers have, to a large extent, allowed themselves to become adjuncts of great corporations and have neglected the obligation to use their powers for the protection of the people.” We strive to follow the example of Justice Brandeis who, before becoming a Supreme Court justice, incorporated advocacy for the issues of the general public into his legal practice. Our public interest work is focused on First Amendment litigation and the post-conviction representation of death-sentenced prisoners in federal habeas corpus proceedings.
